Greetings to members and friends of the Key Biscayne Community Center! 

Can you believe the holidays are just around the corner?  The year is quickly coming to a close, but that doesn't mean the fun stops at the at the Key Biscayne Community Center!  To see a complete listing, download the fall version of the Active Islander Brochure, your source for keeping informed about what the Village's Parks and Recreation Department has to offer this fall. 

ATTENTION ALL KEY BISCAYNE RUNNERS, WALKERS AND SPORT ENTHUSIASTS!  The 32^nd Annual KEY BISCAYNE LIGHTHOUSE 10K/5K RUN is Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 7:45 am (park gates close at 7:15 am)

$20 Registration Fee includes:  FREE State Park entrance, specially designed T-Shirts, after-race food from Denny’s B-FST-2-GO Catering and Coca-Cola, massages by Educating Hands and specially brewed beer from The Titanic Brewery PLUS a great 10K Run or 5K Run/Walk!  Awards for First Place for Key Biscayne residents in all age groups!

Registration Options:

1. Stop by Island Athletics to register anytime before 6 pm on Friday, November 13^th.  Race numbers and t-shirts will be available starting Monday, November 2nd.
2. Register on-line at www.KBLHR.com but note that prices for on-line registration went up to $25 on Sunday, November 1st.
3. For group registration (10 or more), please contact Jill Gomez at 305-458-0404 or jill@KBLHR.com.

 NOTE:  Due to parking limitations, we have limited the number of runners to 1200.  If you want to run this wonderful event, please register asap so as not to miss your opportunity!  Limited T-shirts also, so register SOON!

This past weekend, the Village of Key Biscayne celebrated the Community Center's five year anniversary with a variety of events, including a Halloween luncheon for adults, a  Zombie Crawl by Team Key Aquatics, a foam party, the annual Halloween Haunted House and an open house celebration at the entire Community Center where residents enjoyed an afternoon of activities, performances, food and lots of fun.

When Key Rats are off from school, they can spend the day having fun in a safe environment. Each full-day program offers a variety of activities, which may include computer lab, movies, arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming, field trips, and much more. Enrollment is limited so register early! And remember to pack a lunch since lunch is not included.  Click here for more information. 

• Seniors Mingle Happy Hour: Thursday, November 5 @ 5:00 PM
  • Join us at our 50+ Happy Hour the first Thursday of every month.  The fun includes wine, food, music and karaoke - all for only $5!  Bring your friends and neighbors!
• Life Coaching Workshop: Thursday, November 5 from 7:30 - 9:00 PM
  • Learn tools and techniques to bring abundance and satisfaction to your life.  Members $30; Non-Members $35  Pre-registration is required.
• Nutrition Series: Free for KBCC Members! (only $5 for non-members)
  • "Eating for Family Health" - Monday, November 16@ 10:00 AM
• Thanksgiving Luncheon: Thursday, November 19 @ 12:00 PM
  • Join us for our annual Thanksgiving lunch with all the trimmings.  FREE for all Key Biscayne residents.  This event is generously sponsored by the Village of Key Biscayne, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, and the Active Seniors on the Key Club.
• Social Security Comes to the Village: Wednesday, November 18 @ 9:30 AM
  • A representative from the Social Security Administration will be here to help you with your Social Security and Medicare issues.  No appointment needed.

Key Biscayne basketball season has arrived and we're ready for another great year!  Registration is available at the Key Biscayne Community Center (KBCC) and has been extended until November 15.

Program Dates: November 16, 2009 - February 19, 2010  (Monday, Wednesday & Friday evenings)

Fees: Residents $200; Non-Residents $250

League Categories

• Co-Ed Developmental League 6 - 7 years old
• Co-Ed League 8 - 9 years old
• Boys Only 10 - 14 years old
• Girls Only 10 - 14 years old
